- The Flight 93 Memorial -

A Common Field One Day.
A Field of Honor Forever.

This place pretty much speaks for itself, and requires very little commentary from me.  I will note that the actual crash site is located at some distance from the memorial wall, and is marked by a large boulder around which you can see flags and flowers that have been placed there, presumably by family members with special acccess to the site.  The boulder is not represented in my pictures here because it was too far off to register well in a photo.

I've learned that the memorial is quickly generating contemporary lore as a haunted site, and since I'm an avid collector of folklore, this caught my attention.  I've personally spoken to visitors who claim to have encountered an inexplicable, cold breeze while visiting the memorial on a very hot summer afternoon - the occurrence of this chill wind was offered as evidence of visitation by the spirits of the victims of the crash.  For myself, I can only say that the weather was so bitterly cold and windy during my own visit that no distinctive, spectral breeze of this sort could have been distinguished, so I remain at a loss to confirm the veracity of this remarkable claim.
