Sketches for Sale: Sketches from my Cruise the Marquesas Islands, 2007

These are little records of an exotic sea journey - all of the following drawings were done from the deck of a ship, the "Aranui III," while on a cruise throughout the Marquesas Islands of French Polynesia. These were all done from life, and most were done quite rapidly - the very sketchiest ones were actually done while the ship was in motion, so that I had to capture the scene before we passed by. The more well-developed ones received an hour or two of attention while the ship was at anchor near various islands. These drawings remind me of the sort of work that artists produced while on Captain Cook's voyages of discovery throughout the Pacific.

Each work is numbered. If you're interested in a piece, please contact me by e-mail and identify the piece by its number and by its title (or by the category that it belongs to: in this case, "Marquesas Islands"). All prices include the cost of shipping.
