The Glade Creek Gristmill
Clifftop, West Virginia

babcocksp.com

Although the Glade Creek Gristmill appears to have been here for centuries, it was really constructed in 1976 as a recreation of a previous mill that once stood along this creek.  Its antique appearance is genuine enough, though, since it was assembled from parts collected from three other old mills from various locations in West Virginia.  The mill is fully functional, grinding cornmeal and flour in memory of more than 500 mills that previously existed throughout the state.

In addition to the wooden mill, there were several other structures in the park that caught my eye during my brief visit.
Above, stairs near the visitor center.  Below, a stone pumphouse along the road to the mill.
